About the Course

Most of the time businesses do not fail because leaders are careless. They fail because shocks arrive faster than systems can respond. Learn practical strategies to build resilience and ensure your business thrives, even in uncertain environments.

Purpose of the course

The primary purpose of this course is to provide a comprehensive framework for you to build operational resilience by proactively identifying, assessing and mitigating weaknesses against disruptive events.

Upon completion, you will be able to:

Proactively Identify Threats

Develop a structured process to foresee and analyse potential internal and external shocks that could significantly disrupt business operations.

Assess and Prioritise Risk:

Conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of your business and technical vulnerabilities, prioritising remediation efforts based on the highest potential business impact.

Improve Resilience

Establish a systematic, continuous vulnerability management program that reduces the organisation's attack surface and improves overall operational resilience.

Communicate Strategic Risk

Translate complex technical and operational vulnerabilities into clear, business-centric risk metrics to inform strategic decision-making and secure executive support for mitigation efforts.

The course is divided into two core, interconnected components:

Shock Mapping

This initial phase focuses on systematically identifying potential high-impact external and internal events (shocks) and tracing their likely cascading effects across the business's critical functions, systems, and supply chain. This process visualises potential failure points and areas of exposure.

Business Vulnerability Diagnosis (or Management)

This is a continuous practice designed to identify, analyse, and prioritise weaknesses (vulnerabilities) within the business's systems. It moves beyond a simple technical assessment by aligning findings with business priorities and potential impact, providing a clear, risk-based view of the business's security and operational posture.

The course culminates in developing an actionable, prioritised mitigation plan to address the identified vulnerabilities in the context of the mapped shocks.
